Last 2017, I committed to a 10-year goal which is to live a meaningful life by committing to learning not for comfort but for character development. With this, I want to make use of my skills in teaching and research in helping a community in need.
With the remaining 5 to 6 years of my 10-year commitment, here are my 3 professional goals as an instructor:
1. Finish at least 50% of my Ph.D. degree with a research program related to culture.
In the next 2 years, I aim to engage in a master’s program related to human development, learning, and culture. After earning my master’s degree, I will pursue a Ph.D. degree. This will help me keep abreast with the current trends in teaching and learning, and at the same time generate my own set of knowledge on culture and learning. Throughout this journey, I will be able to establish expertise in my chosen field.
2. Start my own consulting organization wherein we deliver teaching-learning services that focuses on cultural sensitivity and helping the marginalized community.
By 2027, I want to start my own organization that provides teaching-learning services. To do that, I have to continue teaching for organizations and academic institutions to gain more experience and establish a network of people with whom I share my passion with. I am starting to provide teaching-learning services to some organizations and hopefully this will expand in the future. With this, I am constantly seeking to learn from professionals who have already done this kind of work and to never cease my effort toward professional development.
3. Monetize a website wherein I can share my passion for writing and teaching.
Writing is my passion. I want to write so that others can learn and hopefully make use of what they learn in their own lives. To continue doing this passion, I aim that by 2027, my website will already have the means to support my passion. This may be through generating income from ads, income from the online courses/workshops that I will be offering, or any other ways that I will be learning as I go through this journey.
Emma Rosen perfectly summarized what I want to do with my passion – that is, I can make use of what I am passionate at and apply it to different work opportunities. This makes me satisfied with my work and feels like I am not working at all. I am just doing what I love.
It is my hope that by 2028, I will get back to this writing and reminisce how PIDP contributed to both my professional and personal growth.
